According to the China Petroleum Quality Assurance Promotion Association, “the accelerated growth of the NEV industry highlights the urgent need to strengthen the quality assurance of power batteries. It is essential to ensure that every component meets safety standards from production to end-of-life recycling.”
On September 11, during the third meeting of the Quality Assurance Promotion Conference for Power Batteries, a report indicated that the association aims to enhance the safety aspects of NEVs, focusing on battery performance and longevity. The meeting underscored the importance of ensuring that the quality of power batteries aligns with the rapid pace of NEV production.
The association emphasized, “The NEV market is continuing to grow, driven by technological advancements. However, the rapid expansion of the industry has also led to quality challenges that require immediate attention.” They noted that the safety and quality assurance of power batteries must be prioritized to maintain the health of the industry.
Efforts to improve quality control have included establishing strict regulatory frameworks and industry standards for battery safety. The association is working towards creating a robust quality management system that integrates design, production, and usage processes to ensure product reliability.
Current statistics reveal that by August 2023, the NEV sector had achieved significant milestones, with over 4 million units produced. This growth reflects the increasing availability and market acceptance of new energy vehicles.
In light of the ongoing developments in the NEV sector, the association is committed to promoting innovations in battery technology while ensuring that safety standards are met. They stated, “We will continue to push for improvements in battery quality to enhance the overall safety of new energy vehicles.”
As the NEV market evolves, quality assurance will remain a critical focus for manufacturers and regulators alike, ensuring that the benefits of new energy vehicles are realized without compromising safety.
