Energy Vault and Jupiter Power Announce New Agreement for Battery Energy Storage System in Texas

LCG, June 4, 2025—Energy Vault Holdings Inc. (Energy Vault) and Jupiter Power (Jupiter) have announced a new agreement for the supply of an additional battery energy storage system (BESS) at a Jupiter site located in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) region. The initial BESS project, situated near Fort Stockton, Texas, was completed in July 2024, featuring a storage capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh. The upcoming BESS project will add another 100 MW/200 MWh of capacity. Construction is already underway, and the project is anticipated to achieve commercial operations by the end of this summer.

The new BESS will play a crucial role in providing dispatchable capacity to support the growing intermittent renewable energy sources, thereby enhancing the ERCOT grid and increasing grid resiliency. According to the announcement, the system will utilize Energy Vault’s proprietary X-Vault integration platform, which incorporates Energy Vault’s UL9540 certified B-VAULT product and VaultOS Energy Management System. This setup will control, manage, and optimize BESS operations. Energy Vault’s system architecture offers customers flexibility by allowing for various battery and inverter suppliers, while its unique AC-coupled and DC-coupled configurations provide the adaptability required for any project.

“As one of the largest battery storage developers and operators in the U.S., we seek partners who can match our ambition and scale. With over 2,500 MWh either operational or under construction, we’re thrilled to continue our collaboration with Energy Vault at this vital site and value their ability to deliver tailored solutions,” said Jupiter Power’s Chief Technology Officer.

Energy Vault’s Chief Commercial and Product Officer remarked, “Today’s expansion of our partnership with Jupiter Power highlights the strength of our collaborative approach in providing reliable, safe, and efficient energy storage solutions to our clients. Jupiter’s BESS project portfolio has reached a significant level in ERCOT, and we are proud to continue our partnership with Jupiter Power in the important mission of decarbonizing the grid in a cost-effective manner.”

Energy Vault and Jupiter view this announcement as a significant advancement in their ongoing partnership, which began in 2022.
