Energy Vault Teams Up With Jupiter Power For 100 MW / 200 MWh Battery Storage Deal
—
Energy Vault Holdings Inc., a leader in grid-scale energy storage solutions, has signed a new agreement with Jupiter Power to supply an additional battery energy storage system (BESS) at a location within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) region. This follows the successful completion of a previous 100 MW/200 MWh BESS project in July 2024.
The new system will also provide 100 MW/200 MWh of dispatchable energy capacity, aimed at bolstering the ERCOT grid and enhancing overall grid reliability. Construction of the system is already underway, with commercial operations anticipated to commence by the end of summer 2025. The development will utilize Energy Vault’s proprietary X-Vault integration platform and UL9540-certified B-VAULT product. Additionally, it will be managed by the company’s VaultOS Energy Management System, which is designed to optimize energy storage operations. This platform offers flexibility in selecting battery and inverter suppliers and accommodates both AC-coupled and DC-coupled configurations to meet various project requirements.
Michael Geier, Chief Technology Officer at Jupiter Power, stated, “As one of the largest battery storage developers and operators in the U.S., we seek partners who can match our ambition and scale. With over 2,500 MWh in operation or construction, we are excited to continue our collaboration with Energy Vault at this crucial site and appreciate their ability to deliver customized solutions.”
Marco Terruzzin, Chief Commercial and Product Officer at Energy Vault, remarked, “Today’s expansion of our partnership with Jupiter Power underscores our team’s collaborative approach to delivering reliable, safe, and efficient energy storage solutions to our customers. Jupiter’s BESS project portfolio has reached a significant scale in ERCOT, and we are proud to continue our partnership with Jupiter Power in the important mission of decarbonizing the grid in a cost-effective manner.”
This project is part of a broader collaboration between Energy Vault and Jupiter Power, which began in 2022. Their partnership includes the integration of 2.4 GWh of supply chain equipment and services through Energy Vault’s technology platform. Currently, Energy Vault’s B-VAULT portfolio encompasses over 2 GWh of projects that are either operational or in various development stages.
