Electric Power Wind Energy Expands in Vietnam!

On April 25, to enhance energy cooperation between China and Vietnam and support Vietnam’s green transition goals, Electric Power Wind Energy, in collaboration with the globally recognized certification body UL Solutions, hosted the “Electric Power Wind Energy 2025 Vietnam Client Promotion Conference” in Hanoi. The event attracted nearly 100 industry leaders, technical experts, and representatives from the energy sector across Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

The conference, themed “Shanghai Electric: Win-Win New Journey,” focused on wind energy technology innovation, localized solutions, and the trend of multi-energy integration.

Deepening Technical Empowerment in the Local Market

Wang Haiyang, General Manager of Electric Power Wind Energy’s Overseas Products and Technology Department, reflected on the company’s long-term commitment in Vietnam during his opening speech. Over the past few decades, Shanghai Electric Group has supported multiple thermal power projects for Vietnamese clients, accumulating extensive local experience. As Vietnam firmly steps towards a clean energy transition, Electric Power Wind Energy’s first wind power project in the central region is currently under installation, with grid connection expected in June this year, marking a new phase of collaboration with local clients.

To meet the unique needs of the Vietnamese market, Electric Power Wind Energy has launched customized and optimized land and sea wind turbine designs. From the northern mountainous areas to the southern plains, the company’s product platform can provide suitable onshore and offshore wind power solutions across Vietnam. Looking ahead, Electric Power Wind Energy is eager to share technical expertise with local partners to jointly promote high-quality development in Vietnam’s wind energy market.

Unlocking New Trends in Local Policies and Project Management

David Nguyen, Global Key Accounts Director of UL Solutions in Vietnam, attended the summit and delivered a speech. In his address, he outlined UL’s scope of business and shared insights on the electricity development plan “PDP-8” released by the Vietnamese government on April 18.

During the keynote session, Zhou Mao, Sales Manager for UL Wind Energy in the Asia-Pacific region, elaborated on UL’s business scope and shared relevant project cases in the Vietnamese market. Cao Jing, Director of Overseas Solutions at Electric Power Wind Energy, presented the company’s history and development, along with tailored wind power solutions for the Vietnamese climate and wind speed characteristics, offering local clients comprehensive support from site selection to installation and operation.

Doan Xuan Minh Tuan, Director of Haian Company, a leading local enterprise, shared successful experiences from the Quang Tri province onshore wind power project, covering aspects such as wind resource assessment, logistics, installation, and infrastructure. He emphasized that “policy coordination and technological integration” are key to efficiently implementing projects. Additionally, a representative from Shanghai Hydrogen Era Technology Co., Ltd. showcased innovations in green hydrogen equipment and the diverse energy landscape, providing new pathways for multi-energy collaborative development.

Strategic Agreements for Global Expansion

During the summit, UL Solutions presented Electric Power Wind Energy with a type certification in the wind energy sector, highlighting its technological capabilities recognized by international authorities. Subsequently, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen collaboration in areas such as technology research and development, project certification, and market expansion, jointly promoting high-quality development in green energy in Vietnam and globally. UL has always focused on independent certification and technological assurance to help companies address complex challenges. The type certification awarded to Electric Power Wind Energy serves not only as recognition of its technical strength but also as a foundation for deepening cooperation.
