5 million yuan! 6 funding options! Dongguan, Guangdong has announced the application process for the 2024 special fund for the development of new energy storage systems.
On May 28, Dongguan City released the application guidelines for the 2024 special fund aimed at promoting high-quality development in the new energy storage sector. This initiative targets advanced energy storage technologies including lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, flow batteries, and solid-state batteries, focusing on projects that enhance the production capacity of materials, components, process equipment, battery management systems (BMS), energy management systems (EMS), and system integration.
Eligible applicants can receive an annual funding amount of up to 3 million yuan. The funding is directed at projects that contribute to the development of high-safety, low-cost, and long-lifespan new energy storage batteries and systems. These projects must have already received recognition from national or provincial key laboratories, engineering technology research centers, or industry innovation centers.
For projects recognized as key laboratories by national ministries, a one-time reward of 5 million yuan will be granted. Projects recognized as industry innovation centers or engineering research centers will receive 4 million yuan, while those recognized as engineering technology research centers or enterprise technology centers will receive 3 million yuan. Projects acknowledged by the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission as engineering research centers will receive 2 million yuan.
For products exported to international markets such as the EU, the US, Japan, and South Korea, that achieve certification for new energy storage batteries (specifically battery packs and cell-level products), funding will be available. This includes a subsidy covering 50% of the certification costs, with a maximum funding limit of 1 million yuan.
The funding supports battery products applied in home energy storage, commercial energy storage, and portable storage. The certification requirements include compliance with standards such as IEC/EN62619, UL1973, and JIS C8715-2, among others.
Additionally, demonstration projects for innovative energy storage applications, targeting high-energy consumption scenarios such as industrial parks and large enterprises, will be recognized. The municipal Development and Reform Bureau will organize evaluations from August to September each year. Recognized projects will receive subsidies based on their verified discharge capacity, with a maximum of 0.3 yuan per kilowatt-hour, accumulating over two years up to 3 million yuan for individual projects.
Dongguan is establishing a public service platform to support the new energy storage industry, focusing on common technology research, standardization, safety monitoring, and more. Funding for this initiative will also be available, with a maximum of 3 million yuan for projects that meet the requirements.
For more details, companies can refer to the specific application guidelines and requirements outlined in the official documents released by the Dongguan Development and Reform Bureau.
