Damage Reported at Taishan Photovoltaic Project Due to Typhoon Haikang

Suihengyun A has recently announced that its Taishan photovoltaic project has suffered some asset losses due to the impact of the super typhoon Haikashan. The announcement, made on October 8, reveals that the company’s holding project companies, Guangdong Jiangmen Hengguang New Energy Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Jiangmen Hengguang Phase II New Energy Co., Ltd., reported damages to their assets in the 500MW fishing-solar complementary photovoltaic project located in Haiyan Town, Taishan. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Prior to the arrival of typhoon Haikashan, the company took the situation seriously and swiftly activated its emergency response mechanism to prepare for the storm. Following the clear prediction of the typhoon’s path on September 22, the project company began implementing flood prevention and storm defense measures, requiring all staff to enter an emergency state and fully enforce preventive actions. Inspections were conducted on the photovoltaic modules, and enhanced control measures were taken in critical areas such as the booster station. An emergency rescue team was organized and equipped to ensure prompt action after the typhoon passed.

According to the company, an initial site inspection indicated that various equipment, including modules, inverters, brackets, cable trays, and pipe piles, had sustained varying degrees of damage. Given the large area of the affected site, the extent of damaged equipment is still being assessed. The company has preliminarily estimated that the asset losses from this disaster may exceed 10% of its net profit for the year 2024.

The relevant assets had previously been insured, and the actual loss amount will be determined based on the damage assessment and insurance claims, which may differ from the current estimates. The final figures will be confirmed in the company’s annual audit results.

Currently, the Taishan photovoltaic project has partially resumed power generation. The company has organized personnel for post-disaster cleanup and maintenance and is in contact with insurance companies to conduct loss assessments and claims processing to minimize the impact of the losses.
