7.58MWh Single Cabin! Zhongtian Technology New Energy Unveils the ENERGRID NA7 Liquid-Cooled Energy Storage System at ESIE 2025!
The release of this product marks Zhongtian Technology New Energy’s entry into the international elite tier, injecting strong momentum into the localization of the energy storage industry and showcasing the breakthroughs in China’s energy storage technology driven by policy reforms.
On April 10, the 13th International Energy Storage Summit and Exhibition (ESIE 2025) kicked off at the Beijing Capital International Exhibition Center. Zhongtian Technology New Energy Industry Group launched the ENERGRID NA7 liquid-cooled energy storage system under the theme “Full Chain Empowerment, Green Future.” This announcement signifies a significant advancement for Zhongtian Technology in the energy storage sector and highlights China’s technological innovations in energy storage.
The year 2025 is a crucial milestone for China in achieving its carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, as well as a pivotal year for the conclusion of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the drafting of the 15th Five-Year Plan. The ENERGRID NA7 liquid-cooled energy storage system is a fully self-developed solution designed for various applications, featuring high safety, flexibility, and economic efficiency.
Seven Major Breakthroughs
During the launch, Mr. Fan Hongjun, Director of the Energy Storage R&D Department at Zhongtian Technology New Energy Industry Group, emphasized that the significant growth of the energy storage industry is inevitable amid the global energy transition. The large-scale application of renewable resources enhances the flexibility and reliability of power systems, driving a low-carbon transition in energy structures, all of which demand higher energy density, greater efficiency, and smarter energy storage solutions. Current energy storage systems face challenges such as low voltage levels, high conversion losses, and excessive land usage, which have become industry pain points.
Zhongtian’s solution, the ENERGRID NA7, is a 20-foot container liquid-cooled energy storage system that achieves a single cabin capacity of 7.58MWh, operates at 2000V DC, and integrates AC and DC functionalities.
By increasing the output voltage on the DC side, the PCS (Power Conversion System) AC output voltage has been raised to 1000V. The newly developed integrated PCS allows for an upgrade to 8MWh while significantly increasing capacity and voltage without expanding the container size.
- Energy Density Improvement of 51%: Through innovative design and modular integration, every inch of space has been utilized for multiple functions. Techniques such as folding, reshaping, and time-space reuse achieve a quantum-level utilization of physical dimensions, enabling the single cabin capacity to exceed 7.58MWh, equivalent to fitting a “mini pumped-storage power station” within a 20-foot container. Compared to similar projects, the ENERGRID NA7 saves 40% in land area compared to the previous generation’s 5MWh liquid-cooled energy storage container.
- Active Improvements: The battery cell is the fundamental unit of energy storage and its safety determines the overall system safety. Zhongtian enhances the structural and thermal stability of LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) materials through multi-element doping. The anodes use thermally stable graphite to reduce surface defects and mitigate thermal effects, effectively lowering the risk of thermal runaway while increasing energy density.
- Breakthroughs in Energy Density: The overall enhancement in energy density results from the physical restructuring of fundamental units, leading to a cascading amplification effect at a macroscopic scale. The latest unit box developed by Zhongtian achieves an energy capacity of over 210KWh while maintaining an IP67 protection level, providing robust support for the development of the ENERGRID NA7 liquid-cooled energy storage system.
- New AC/DC Integration Breakthrough: Higher efficiency and smarter energy storage solutions have always been sought-after goals in the industry. The newly developed 3S integrated PCS by Zhongtian features seamless grid connection capabilities with a 2000V high-voltage DC side and incorporates a bi-directional DC/AC converter. This design reduces energy conversion levels (traditional solutions require 2-3 conversion stages, while the integrated design requires only one), boosting conversion efficiency to over 99%. The embedded EMS (Energy Management System) supports millisecond-level mode switching (switching time < 20ms). The modular liquid-cooling thermal management design enhances space utilization while reducing project cycle times and operational costs, with equipment space reduced by 40%, installation periods shortened by 60%, and lifecycle maintenance costs lowered by 25%.
- Structural Innovations: The high-capacity, high-integration, high-density ENERGRID NA7 liquid-cooled energy storage container is constructed from high-strength steel, with optimized structural design based on precise stress analysis. Standardized corner components and corrugated panels reinforce the structure, giving it excellent compressive, torsional, and stacking load capacities, enabling it to withstand earthquakes of magnitude 9.
- Precise Temperature Control: Temperature significantly impacts the performance and stability of battery cells. Issues such as thermal runaway, high-temperature aging, and low-temperature damage are all related to inadequate temperature control. An excellent thermal control system can greatly enhance the usable capacity and charge/discharge power of the battery cells. By maintaining a temperature differential of less than 2°C, the overall lifespan of the modules can be extended by over 30%. Zhongtian has optimized the BMS (Battery Management System) temperature monitoring and liquid cooling system interaction strategies to ensure precise control, keeping module temperature differences within 2°C.
- Upgraded Safety Features: Zhongtian recognizes that the greatest threat to energy storage is not from competitors but from safety incidents. To prevent accidents, Zhongtian employs a multi-tiered approach. Battery detection is linked with the fire suppression system, enabling real-time information uploads to initiate protective measures promptly. The system is equipped with detection and extinguishing capabilities at the warehouse, cluster, and pack levels, along with both water and gas fire suppression systems.
With a commitment to full chain empowerment and a vision for a green future, the launch of the ENERGRID NA7 energy storage system not only demonstrates Zhongtian Technology New Energy’s technological strength in the energy storage sector but also highlights the company’s strategic layout in solar and energy storage integration.
