CMEF 2026: Unveiling Innovations at the 93rd China International Medical Equipment Fair

CMEF

The 93rd China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) will take place from April 9 to 12 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. Organized by China National Pharmaceutical Group, this year’s event carries the theme “Innovative Fusion, Infinite Leap” and marks the first global top-tier healthcare exhibition at the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The fair will cover over 320,000 square meters and feature nearly 5,000 brands from more than 20 countries and regions, showcasing tens of thousands of new products. It is expected to attract over 200,000 professional visitors from 150 countries and regions and will host hundreds of high-level academic conferences, presenting a new blueprint for the global healthcare industry.

This year’s CMEF aligns deeply with the national 14th Five-Year Plan and the Healthy China Strategy, focusing on hot topics in medical technology such as emerging economies, AI healthcare, brain-computer interfaces, and the silver economy. The exhibition aims to integrate various segments of the healthcare industry, including upstream and downstream players, research institutions, and global resources, creating a technological feast that promotes the transformation of medical innovations and elevates the health industry’s capabilities. Additionally, there will be seven themed exhibitions held concurrently, including ICMD, CRS, and CECN, which will create a comprehensive display platform covering the entire medical equipment supply chain and various sub-sectors of the health industry.

AI in Healthcare will be a key highlight of the event, which will showcase several products making their global and China debuts in cutting-edge fields such as AI healthcare, gene sequencing, surgical robots, and brain-computer interfaces. Industry giants like United Imaging, GE, and Mindray will present significant new products, including the world’s first approved invasive brain-computer interface medical device. Various innovative solutions are set to redefine industry technology standards. The AI healthcare sector is also thriving, with products like AI smart agents and specialty AI diagnostic software already making clinical impacts. AI-powered training machines will provide efficient computing support to medical institutions.

The medical robotics sector is equally impressive, featuring various robots for surgery, rehabilitation, and elderly care. Multi-modal surgical robots are advancing towards ultra-minimally invasive techniques, demonstrating millimeter-level precision in areas such as orthopedics and cardiovascular interventions, thereby driving the intelligent and precise upgrading of the healthcare industry.

This year’s CMEF has strategically upgraded its exhibition planning, introducing three new specialized areas: Future Technology, Medical Aesthetics, and Hospital Equipment Asset Management. The Future Technology exhibition will focus on brain science and embodied intelligence, showcasing cutting-edge products like brain-controlled wheelchairs and exoskeleton robots. The Medical Aesthetics area will explore the integration of medical and consumer sectors, featuring laser equipment, biomaterials, and AI digital aesthetic solutions to promote compliant and precise development in the medical beauty industry. The Hospital Equipment Asset Management area will utilize smart management systems to transform medical devices from “fixed assets” to “efficiency engines”.

With a global perspective, this CMEF aims to create an international and professional platform for trade cooperation and company expansion, serving as a core bridge for Sino-foreign medical technology exchanges. The international exhibition area will welcome enterprises from over 20 countries and regions, including the USA, Germany, Russia, and Japan. The organizers will establish an innovation product showcase to highlight cutting-edge achievements from various countries. The international area will also enhance its “We” series of activities, which includes international stages, precise matchmaking, and customized tours to facilitate effective cross-border trade. Overseas companies will provide localized market entry services, with Singaporean and Vietnamese firms supporting Chinese companies in accessing Southeast Asian markets and wearable device development.

Medical device cooperation between China and Russia will be a focal point, with a high-level Russian procurement delegation set to engage in in-depth discussions with Chinese enterprises. Furthermore, the organizers will host the second tHISASEAN in Malaysia this July to deepen cooperation in the healthcare and wellness sectors between China and ASEAN countries.

The CMEF MEDCONGRESS conference series will also see a comprehensive upgrade, featuring hundreds of high-quality forums covering technology innovation, clinical application, policy and regulation, and industrial commerce. Thousands of industry experts, scholars, and representatives will come together to explore new pathways for industry development. The forums will focus on core technological innovations in medical robotics and AI healthcare, clinical applications such as public hospital development and emergency medical rescue, compliance guidance on global medical device regulations and standards, and discussions on the silver economy and interdisciplinary integration in talent cultivation. Additionally, there will be special events such as capital connection for SMEs, clinical hands-on training, and pet healthcare training camps, alongside the release of important reports on procurement directories for the medical device and wellness sectors to guide industry development.

The CMEF emphasizes the concept of empowering the entire industry chain, addressing health demands throughout the human lifecycle. It aims to build a healthcare ecosystem that spans from the source to the end user, from China to the world. The upstream ICMD exhibition will gather over 800 companies showcasing core components and AI+ manufacturing solutions to promote the intelligent transformation of medical device production. The wellness sector will capitalize on opportunities in the silver economy, with nearly 500 exhibitors displaying products across the entire industry chain for smart rehabilitation and elderly care, enhancing specialized exhibition areas and constructing a full-scenario wellness product matrix. The pet health exhibition will focus on “shared healthcare”, integrating human medical technology with pet medical devices and innovative pharmaceuticals. The emergency security and rescue exhibition will showcase essential equipment like negative pressure ambulances and 5G remote emergency systems, providing Chinese solutions for global emergency response systems.

The fair will also create an online and offline integrated platform, with the CMEFLIVE streaming room collaborating with mainstream media to decode cutting-edge technologies. The online platform iCMEF will showcase over 15,000 companies and more than 32,000 products, creating a year-round communication space that never closes.

The 93rd CMEF serves as a core platform for implementing national strategies, radiating over 30,000 medical institutions in the Yangtze River Delta and establishing a central hub for global medical industry innovation dialogue and resource connection. It contributes Chinese wisdom and strength to the construction of a Healthy China and the establishment of a global health community.
