CIBF2025 Kicks Off Global New Energy Conference Highlighting Opportunities in the Lithium Battery Industry

CIBF2025

On May 15, the 17th China International Battery Technology Exchange Conference/Exhibition (CIBF2025), organized by the China Chemical and Physical Power Industry Association, grandly opened at the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center. This year’s exhibition covers an area of 300,000 square meters and has attracted over 3,200 leading new energy companies and 400,000 professional visitors from around the world.

During the opening ceremony, Zheng Hongyu, president of the China Chemical and Physical Power Industry Association and chairman of the CIBF2025 organizing committee, stated, “The year 2025 is a pivotal turning point for China’s new energy industry, shifting from ‘scale expansion’ to ‘quality enhancement’. In the face of the uncertainties brought about by rapidly changing external conditions, the inherent resilience of the Chinese economy continues to exceed expectations.” She highlighted that the production of the “new three” – electric vehicles, lithium-ion power batteries, and solar cells – has seen year-on-year growth of 45.4%, 39.2%, and 18.5%, respectively, becoming crucial pillars for stable growth.

Moreover, China’s GDP growth rate reached 5.4% in the first quarter, leading major global economies, with the new energy sector standing out. Electric vehicle exports totaled 441,000 units, and power battery exports hit 37.8 GWh, marking increases of 43.9% and 21.5% year-on-year. These figures illustrate a profound shift from “Made in China” to “Created in China.”

This year’s exhibition features 15 halls, showcasing a full range of innovations along the entire industry chain, from battery materials and equipment to cell manufacturing and recycling.

Leading companies in the power battery industry, such as CATL, EVE Energy, Sunwoda, and Ruipu Energy, presented products that comply with the new national standards for power batteries, demonstrating their robust R&D capabilities through the latest high energy density batteries and fast charging technology.

In the realm of intelligent equipment, companies like Xian Dai Intelligent showcased cutting-edge technologies and solutions in lithium battery intelligent manufacturing, 3C consumer electronics, smart logistics, and smart factories. Other firms, including Jiatong Intelligent, Haimu Star Laser, Li Yu Heng, Manston, Shangshui Intelligent, and Nakanor, introduced their latest achievements in solid-state batteries and dry electrode manufacturing.

In terms of upstream materials, numerous leading companies in specialized sectors, such as Putailai, BTR, Tianci Materials, New Zebang, Haike New Energy, Huasheng Lithium Battery, Shengtai Technology, Xiangfenghua, and Tiannai Technology, showcased their innovative results and various application scenario adaptations.

On the afternoon of May 15, an “Advanced Battery Frontier Technology Seminar,” themed “Green Energy Drives the Future,” was held concurrently with the exhibition, gathering top experts from around the globe. Zheng Hongyu mentioned during the seminar that 2025 will be a critical milestone for ultra-fast charging technology, solid-state battery technology, and sodium battery technology to transition from the laboratory to production lines and from trial phases to large-scale implementation. “China has formed a closed-loop system for the entire battery industry chain, accelerating green transformation at every step, from materials to recycling.” She called for collaboration among the government, enterprises, and academic institutions to create an innovation system that addresses challenges and empowers sustainable development.

Additionally, high-level forums such as the “Electric Aviation and Next Generation Battery Technology Exchange Meeting” and the “CIBICS Battery Industry Cooperation Forum” were also held during the event. Reports launched at the exhibition, including the “2024 Lithium-Ion Battery Industry Blue Book,” the “Standardization White Paper for Low-Altitude Flying Vehicle Batteries,” and the “White Paper on the Development of Lithium Iron Phosphate in China,” provide data support and forward-looking guidance for industry development.
