Leading the Japanese Market | Chint Power’s Kyushu Kumamoto Commercial and Industrial Energy Storage Project Successfully Connected to the Grid!
To accelerate its carbon neutrality goals and reform the electricity market, the Japanese government is making significant efforts. By implementing policies such as feed-in tariffs and fixed electricity purchase prices, it has greatly encouraged households and businesses to install solar power systems paired with energy storage devices.
The integrated solar and storage project in Kyushu Kumamoto, utilizing Chint Power products, serves as a prime example of high-voltage grid-connected self-consumption applications. This project employs a 1.6MW/3.3MWh commercial energy storage system from Chint Power, which is integrated with the existing commercial photovoltaic power generation system, effectively enhancing the user’s electricity consumption ratio.
By aligning with customer needs and interpretations of Japanese policies, this project leverages the existing solar power system to generate electricity efficiently during sunny daytime hours, meeting daily energy demands. Any surplus electricity is stored in the energy storage system. When electricity prices peak or during unexpected disasters that disrupt grid supply, the storage system can quickly discharge, significantly reducing the user’s electricity costs.
Additionally, the project includes an off-grid emergency mode, allowing the energy storage system to provide independent power for up to 2 hours during disasters such as typhoons or earthquakes. This feature ensures that critical loads remain powered while perfectly aligning with Japan’s regulatory requirements and market demand for stable and efficient energy use.
Chint Power’s 1.6MW/3.3MWh liquid-cooled energy storage system features an all-in-one design that integrates key components such as PCS, BMS, and EMS. This integration reduces installation costs by approximately 30%. Pre-installation and debugging can be completed at the factory, significantly shortening on-site installation times and enabling quick response to project demands.
The system also supports cluster management, ensuring each battery is fully charged and discharged, addressing the issue of inconsistent state of charge (SOC) that can arise in traditional parallel configurations. This guarantees the long-term stability and efficient operation of the energy storage system.
This project acts as a “green energy hub,” optimizing the use of every kilowatt-hour of electricity. It not only integrates the value of green energy into users’ daily lives but also reaffirms Chint Power’s technological strength and localized service capabilities in the complex energy market of Japan.
As one of the earliest Chinese energy storage companies to enter the Japanese market, Chint Power aims to continue exploring the Japanese solar and storage market by leveraging its deep insights and accumulated experience regarding local policies, regulations, and customer needs. The company is committed to empowering more users through continuous innovation in products and solutions.
