Leading the Japanese Market: Successful Grid Connection of the Chint Power Commercial and Industrial Energy Storage Project in Kumamoto, Kyushu!

To accelerate the achievement of carbon neutrality, the Japanese government is making significant efforts toward electrical market reforms. By implementing policies such as feed-in tariff subsidies and fixed electricity purchase prices, it has greatly encouraged households and businesses to install solar power generation systems along with energy storage devices.

The Chint Power project in Kumamoto, Kyushu, which features integrated solar and storage solutions, stands as a prime example of high-voltage grid-connected self-consumption applications. This project utilizes Chint Power’s 1.6MW/3.3MWh commercial and industrial energy storage system, effectively enhancing the user’s electricity consumption ratio alongside their existing photovoltaic power generation system.

By aligning with customer demands and interpreting Japanese policies, the project takes advantage of abundant sunlight during the day to generate electricity efficiently, meeting daily power needs, while surplus energy is stored in the energy storage system. During peak electricity pricing times or in the event of emergencies that disrupt grid supply, the storage system can quickly discharge, significantly reducing the user’s electricity expenses.

Moreover, the project includes an off-grid emergency mode, allowing the energy storage system to support independent power supply for up to two hours during disasters such as typhoons or earthquakes. This capability ensures critical loads remain powered, aligning perfectly with Japan’s regulations and market demands for stable and efficient energy utilization.

The Chint Power 1.6MW/3.3MWh liquid-cooled storage system features an all-in-one integrated design, incorporating essential components such as PCS, BMS, and EMS. This integration reduces installation and wiring costs by approximately 30%. Pre-installation and testing are completed before leaving the factory, significantly shortening on-site installation time and allowing rapid response to project construction needs.

The system also includes cluster management functions, ensuring each battery within a cluster is fully charged and discharged, addressing the issue of state of charge (SOC) inconsistency prevalent in traditional parallel solutions. This guarantees long-term stability and efficient operation of the energy storage system.

This project acts as a “green energy hub,” precisely managing every kilowatt-hour of electricity. It not only integrates the value of green energy into the daily lives of users but also reinforces Chint Power’s technical capabilities and localized service strength in Japan’s complex energy market environment.

As one of the earliest Chinese energy storage enterprises to enter the Japanese market, Chint Power is committed to further developing the Japanese solar and storage market by leveraging its deep insights and accumulated experience with local policies, regulations, and customer needs. Through continuous innovation in products and solutions, Chint Power aims to empower more users.
