Huang Haiyan, Executive Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of Chint New Energy, emphasized the importance of collaborative engagement across the entire supply chain in building a green ecological circle during her speech at the “2025 SNEC ES+ International Energy Storage and Battery Conference” in Shanghai on October 9. The event included the “2025 Annual ESG Forum for Energy Companies,” which focused on core issues related to ESG development in the energy sector.
The forum brought together industry experts, business leaders, and representatives from research institutions to explore practical pathways for implementing ESG strategies in energy companies and to discuss the future of sustainable development in the industry. Huang highlighted Chint New Energy’s commitment to sustainable development, outlining the company’s strategic roadmap and practical measures while setting clear goals for 2028 and 2035.
By 2028, the company aims to reach leading standards in green manufacturing, ensuring that sustainability is deeply integrated into all operational aspects. Huang explained that the company is transitioning from “manufacturing green” to “green manufacturing” through technological innovation and process optimization, which will lower energy consumption and emissions during production while enhancing resource efficiency. They are also working towards establishing comprehensive carbon footprint accounting and monitoring systems and advancing the construction of zero-carbon factories.
The company has committed to achieving certification for at least eight zero-carbon factories by 2028. Chint New Energy plans to use recyclable materials, implement lightweight designs, and initiate packaging recycling and resource recovery efforts to minimize resource consumption and environmental impact from product packaging.
In terms of social inclusion, Chint New Energy emphasizes employee empowerment and shared value. Huang pointed out that women constitute 27.5% of the workforce, with female representation at 22.2% on the board and 30.4% in senior management. Furthermore, the company actively fulfills its social responsibilities through initiatives like the “Hand in Hand with Children” program in schools and donations of photovoltaic components to schools in Vietnam, benefiting over 3,000 students in 2024.
Supply chain collaboration is a core component of Chint New Energy’s ESG strategy. Huang indicated that the company is evolving its supply chain from “chain collaboration” to “low-carbon symbiosis.” To achieve this, Chint has implemented various policies, such as the “Chint Business Partner Integrity and Compliance Code,” “ESG Policy,” and “Conflict Minerals Control Management Standards,” embedding sustainability requirements into procurement decisions and managing the entire lifecycle of suppliers.
Local procurement, supplier adherence to conduct codes, and ESG site audits and environmental impact assessments are key methods used to enhance social responsibility within the supply chain. Notably, Chint New Energy has taken a proactive role in the supply chain collaboration initiative. In August, the company was among the first to join the “Sustainable Fuels Alliance Initiative” launched by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), which aims to encourage the development and application of sustainable fuels, increase the proportion of low-carbon transportation, and establish a platform for technological innovation.
Huang emphasized that Chint New Energy is committed to acting as a “chain leader,” fostering deeper cooperation with upstream and downstream partners to embed sustainability into every aspect of the supply chain, from raw materials to end products. Together, they aim to address environmental and social challenges and collaboratively build a sustainable ecosystem that shares the value of light with the world.
