In the past four months, China’s automobile production and sales have shown remarkable growth, reaching record levels. As of May 13, 2025, reports indicate that the production and sales figures from January to April 2025 have reached 10.175 million and 10.06 million vehicles, respectively, representing increases of 12.9% and 10.8% compared to the same period last year. Specifically, the export of new energy vehicles (NEVs) surged to 642,000 units, reflecting a remarkable increase of 52.6% compared to the same timeframe last year.
April alone saw exports of 517,000 vehicles, maintaining a steady growth trend in the automotive market. The new energy vehicle sector continues to gain momentum, with production and sales figures for NEVs reaching a cumulative total of 4.429 million and 4.3 million units, respectively, representing growth rates of 48.3% and 46.2%. Notably, new energy vehicles accounted for 42.7% of the total new vehicle sales.
The passenger vehicle market has also demonstrated strong performance. From January to April, the sales of passenger vehicles in China reached 594,000 units, marking an impressive increase of 68.7% compared to the same period last year. April recorded a sales figure exceeding 70% for passenger vehicles, indicating robust market demand.
