China’s Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation has established two distributed photovoltaic projects in conjunction with the SOLARZOOM microgrid. This announcement was made on April 26, 2025, at the launch event for the projects located in the western region of Xi’an.
These projects are the first distributed photovoltaic initiatives developed by the corporation under the national plan for renewable energy growth. The projects will utilize six photovoltaic rooftop installations with a combined capacity of 7.36 megawatts.
Once operational, the expected total annual electricity generation is estimated to reach 17,788.93 megawatt-hours. This will lead to a reduction of approximately 2,145.35 tons of standard coal equivalent, 5,609.23 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 0.72 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions, and 1.08 tons of nitrogen oxide emissions.
On April 29, the Longhua Energy Group also announced the successful implementation of another distributed photovoltaic project. This project marks the second renewable energy initiative launched by the corporation in the Jiangsu province.
Utilizing “BIPV technology,” the project encompasses 27 rooftop installations with a total capacity of 13 megawatts. The projected annual electricity generation for this initiative is estimated to be 33,211.18 megawatt-hours, resulting in a reduction of about 3,994.65 tons of standard coal equivalent, 10,946.43 tons of carbon dioxide, 1.1 tons of sulfur dioxide, and 1.77 tons of nitrogen oxide emissions.
The Solarzoom platform reported that these projects will contribute significantly to the region’s energy needs and are expected to begin operations by July 1, 2025. The annual electricity output is projected to exceed 129.5 million kilowatt-hours in the first year.
In related news, the Solarzoom company is set to launch a new initiative focused on microgrid technology, which aims to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability across various sectors.
