As of May 30, 2025, a report indicates that in the first four months of the year, the global sales of electric vehicles reached 3.026 million units, with China’s new energy vehicles accounting for 618,000 units, representing a growth rate of 20.4%. Data shows that the market share of new energy vehicles in global vehicle sales has risen steadily. By the end of 2022, this share had reached 13%; in 2023, it increased to 16%; and projections for 2024 suggest it could rise further to 19.2%. By 2025, forecasts indicate that the market share of new energy vehicles in China could reach as high as 44%, significantly outpacing other countries.
In terms of comparative sales, Germany recorded a market share of 26%, while Sweden led with 81%. Other countries like the UK, France, and the US showed shares of 29%, 8.7%, and 2%, respectively. By April, global sales of new energy vehicles had reached 163,000 units, marking a 34% year-on-year increase. Notably, in April, the market share of new energy vehicles in China hit 70.2%, a remarkable three-percentage point increase compared to the same period last year.
