On April 28, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released key points for the standardization of the automotive industry for 2025, emphasizing the need to enhance the safety levels of new energy vehicles. The initiative includes the promotion of standards for remote services and management of electric vehicles, as well as the implementation of safety requirements for power batteries.
Additionally, the MIIT plans to advance the review and approval of safety standards for electric vehicles and conduct preliminary research on mandatory national standards for fuel cell electric vehicles and the recycling safety requirements for power batteries. The goal is to continuously improve the safety standards for electric vehicles.
The ministry is also committed to reviewing and approving standards for the durability of power batteries and thermal management systems, accelerating the development of standards for all-solid-state batteries, in-service testing of power batteries, and labeling requirements for these batteries, all aimed at optimizing performance criteria.
Furthermore, the MIIT is set to accelerate the formulation of standards for testing the efficiency of drive motor systems and will conduct preliminary research on distributed drive motor systems, hybrid systems, and onboard hydrogen systems, with an emphasis on strengthening quality requirements for critical system components.
For commercial vehicles, the MIIT will push for the implementation of safety standards for battery swapping and expedite the development of standards related to charging performance, chassis battery swapping, and compatibility testing. Research will also be conducted on megawatt-level charging standards for commercial vehicles to enhance the convenience of using electric vehicles.
This comprehensive approach aims to advance the development of the new energy vehicle sector while ensuring safety and efficiency.
