The largest photovoltaic project in the country has officially started generating power!
On May 7, it was reported by the Shenzhen State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission that the country’s largest photovoltaic project, and the first solar project at a landfill in Guangdong Province, has successfully achieved full-capacity grid-connected power generation. This project, located at the Bao’an Tiger Pit Landfill, is managed by Shenzhen Energy Group’s Deep Energy Greater Bay Area New Energy Investment Holdings Co., Ltd.
The project utilizes approximately 146,000 square meters of landfill resources to establish a photovoltaic power generation system with an installed capacity of 13 MW, generating around 14 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
According to a relevant official, the project set its target for grid connection by April 30, in line with the latest national policies on distributed photovoltaic power generation. Despite challenges such as tight construction schedules, rainy season operations, and overlapping work areas, the construction team effectively coordinated resources. At peak construction times, around 200 workers were involved, and the team actively collaborated with power supply departments, equipment suppliers, and contractors to successfully complete the grid connection ahead of schedule.
The Bao’an Tiger Pit Landfill photovoltaic project introduces an innovative “photovoltaic + landfill” model, transforming the closed landfill site into a clean energy project. This approach not only revitalizes idle land resources but also achieves dual benefits of ecological restoration and energy production. The photovoltaic matrix collaborates effectively with the Bao’an Environmental Park’s eco-friendly power plant, wastewater treatment plant, and ecological greenways, creating an integrated garden-style environmental demonstration system that showcases the “power generation – emission reduction – landscape” synergy and provides a replicable model for the reutilization of closed landfill land resources.
