Basic living necessities, including food and daily commodities, showed particularly rapid growth, with increases of 10.4% for food, 10.2% for daily products, and 6.6% for beverages.
During the Spring Festival period, various departments within the Ministry of Commerce launched promotional activities to stimulate consumption. The data indicates that sales during this festive season have outpaced previous years, with a 5.7% increase in total spending compared to the last Spring Festival.
The Ministry of Commerce also noted that the sales of intelligent machinery and robots rose by 13% in the first two months of the year, with first-tier energy-saving appliances showing an increase of 8.1%.
Rural consumption has also seen substantial growth. The sales of agricultural products increased by 2.7%, while rural consumer goods saw a 3.2% increase, marking a 0.5 percentage points faster growth rate compared to urban areas.
Rural consumer goods accounted for 38.5% of the total sales in the consumer goods market, reflecting a 0.1 percentage points increase compared to the same period last year.
