China’s Future in Wind Energy: Aiming for Unlimited Growth with 36 Trillion Yuan Investment

Chinas

According to recent reports, China’s wind power capacity is on track to reach a remarkable milestone. By 2025, the country is expected to achieve a “wind power unlimited” status, reflecting its significant advancements in the renewable energy sector. As of October 20, 2025, the China Electricity Council has announced that China’s wind power capacity has consistently ranked first in the world for 15 consecutive years.

China’s wind energy sector continues to experience rapid and stable growth. Currently, the total installed wind power capacity in the country exceeds 578.4 million kilowatts, contributing to a cumulative capacity of approximately 5.8 billion kilowatts. This represents a 15.7% growth in wind power generation capacity compared to the previous year, with a notable 10.1% increase in electricity consumption by society.

The President of the Chinese Renewable Energy Society, Jiang Haifeng, has stated that by 2035, the country’s dependence on non-fossil energy sources is projected to surpass 30%. Wind and solar energy are expected to contribute significantly to the total energy generation capacity, reaching levels above 6 billion kilowatts by 2020, which would represent an increase of 36 billion kilowatts.

With abundant wind energy resources, China is poised for substantial development in this sector. Recent research indicates that the “three northern” regions of China have the potential to develop over 75 billion kilowatts of wind energy resources. By optimizing land use and promoting cross-regional balance, the country aims to enhance its electricity supply capacity. Meanwhile, the eastern coastal areas could potentially develop over 27 billion kilowatts of wind energy resources, thanks to their favorable geographical conditions.

Additionally, China’s wind turbine manufacturers are actively expanding their international presence. They have already established export connections to 57 countries and are currently advancing plans for projects in seven overseas markets.

This progress underscores China’s commitment to renewable energy. The nation is making significant strides toward sustainable energy solutions that will benefit both its economy and the environment.
