China’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure has surpassed a significant milestone, exceeding 20 million charging points. As reported on January 21, 2026, by the National Energy Administration, the number of electric vehicle charging facilities in the country reached 20.092 million, marking a remarkable increase of 49.7% compared to previous figures. This growth reflects the ongoing commitment to enhancing the electric vehicle ecosystem in China.

Among the total charging facilities, 4.717 million are public charging points, which represent a 31.9% increase. Additionally, the total installed capacity for charging stations has reached 22 billion kilowatts, with an average capacity of approximately 46.53 kilowatts.

Private charging facilities also saw substantial growth, with a total of 15.375 million units, reflecting a 56.2% rise. The energy storage capacity for these private installations has reached 1.34 billion kilowatt-hours.

This data underscores the rapid expansion of electric vehicle infrastructure in China, as the nation moves towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly transportation system.
