China’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure has surpassed a significant milestone, exceeding 20 million charging points. As reported on January 21, 2026, by the National Energy Administration, the number of electric vehicle charging facilities in the country reached 20.092 million, marking a remarkable increase of 49.7% compared to previous figures. Private charging facilities also saw substantial growth, with a total of 15.375 million units, reflecting a 56.2% rise. The energy storage capacity for these private installations has reached 1.34 billion kilowatt-hours.
