The 12th National Conference on Carbon Emission Management took place in a green and low-carbon theme at Shanxi University, a key institution in energy resource management. This event highlighted the importance of advancing green and low-carbon development strategies in China.

Shanxi, a major energy province and a significant source of carbon emissions, has been actively promoting green development models in recent years. However, it still faces challenges such as insufficient support for technological innovation, limited new energy enterprise regulations, and a lack of infrastructure in energy systems.

The conference featured discussions on various topics, including the latest trends and insights in carbon management, green development strategies, and the integration of artificial intelligence into energy efficiency practices. Shanxi University’s president, Tian Yuqi, emphasized the importance of this conference in generating new perspectives and pathways for achieving low-carbon transitions in the province.

During the conference, participants reviewed proposals and held discussions across 12 thematic areas. Experts from the China Engineering Academy, alongside other specialists, engaged in dialogue about pressing issues such as AI integration, green technology promotion, and sustainable development practices.

Shanxi University’s research center reported that the province is committed to enhancing its economic structure by transitioning to a more sustainable model. The discussions aimed to identify innovative solutions to advance green transformation and improve resource efficiency.

The conference attracted significant attention, with over 80,000 attendees, including students and teachers from more than 200 universities and research institutions. Experts from institutions such as Tsinghua University and Peking University also contributed their insights.

Additionally, the event served as a platform for launching new initiatives, including the establishment of a framework for carbon trading and management. The focus was on fostering collaboration among various stakeholders to achieve national carbon reduction goals.

As the conference concluded, the experts expressed optimism about the future of low-carbon development in China. They emphasized the need for continued innovation and collaboration to meet the growing demands of a sustainable energy landscape.

The discussions highlighted the urgent need for a shift towards green energy practices, reinforcing the commitment of the Chinese government to address carbon emissions and promote sustainable development.
