On April 10, the 23rd China International Environmental Protection Exhibition (CIEPEC 2025) and the 7th Ecological Environmental Industry Innovation Development Conference officially opened in Beijing. The theme for this year’s exhibition is “Implementing the ‘Two Mountains’ Concept, Serving the ‘Dual Carbon’ Strategy, Innovating Green Development, and Building a Beautiful China.” The event will last for three days and features over 1,000 environmental protection enterprises from both domestic and international markets.

The exhibition aims to comprehensively summarize and promote the achievements of the ecological environmental industry in practicing the “Two Mountains” theory. It showcases new products, technologies, and equipment in the environmental protection sector related to AI and next-generation information technology, low-carbon transformation, and the ‘dual carbon’ goals, as well as green ecological innovation practices. Guo Chengzhan, the Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the China Environmental Protection Industry Association, noted that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the “Green Water and Green Mountains are Gold and Silver Mountains” concept and the 5th anniversary of the implementation of the “dual carbon” strategy. It also serves as a crucial year for concluding the 14th Five-Year Plan and planning the 15th Five-Year Plan.

In recent years, the ecological environmental industry has embraced the “Green Water and Green Mountains are Gold and Silver Mountains” concept, accelerating innovation in green technology and promoting advanced green technology applications. Significant achievements have been made in strengthening the green manufacturing industry, developing green services, expanding the green energy sector, and establishing a green low-carbon circular economy system. This has played an irreplaceable role in high-level ecological environmental protection and promoting high-quality economic and social development.

This year’s exhibition focuses on meeting national strategic needs and highlights new productive forces, featuring a special “Technology Innovation Zone.” This area will particularly promote cutting-edge technologies such as new environmental protection materials, carbon capture and storage (CCUS), and smart monitoring. It will also display the results of using AI and information technology to achieve a digital transformation in environmental management.

Additionally, the organizer, the China Environmental Protection Industry Association, has partnered with the China-SCO Ecological Environmental Innovation Base (Shandong) and the Nanjing University Environmental Planning and Design Institute to conduct research on industry trends, technological standard innovations, and intellectual property strategies, accelerating the transformation of technological achievements into productive forces.

Furthermore, this exhibition has undergone a comprehensive upgrade compared to previous years, creating a multifaceted platform to enhance cooperation outcomes. For instance, it has introduced roundtable discussions with guest provinces and cities, organized thematic meetings on the development of the green environmental industry in districts such as Chaoyang District (Beijing), Tongnan District (Chongqing), Qingdao, Taizhou, and Baiyin, as well as investment promotion conferences. Major guest enterprises, including China Resources Recycling Group, Sinochem Environmental Protection, China National Nuclear Corporation Environmental Protection, Jiangsu Environmental Protection Group, and Shandong Environmental Protection Development Group, will announce their latest development strategies and sign significant project cooperation agreements during the exhibition.
