China’s 2025 Sustainable Fuel Industry Summit Focuses on Green Energy Transition in Changsha

Chinas

From April 19 to 20, 2025, the China Sustainable Fuel Industry Summit took place in Changsha. This summit, themed “Empowering through the Energy Law: Creating New Productive Forces,” is the first industry event in the country to focus on the entire methanol fuel supply chain, driven by the Energy Law. It brought together global experts, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss breakthroughs in sustainable fuel technologies and pathways for industrial implementation, contributing to the green energy revolution.

The conference included in-depth discussions on industry opportunities in the context of the dual carbon targets and the implementation of the Energy Law. Jiang Bing, the former director of the Planning Department at the National Energy Administration and the chair of the Carbon Neutrality Committee of the China Energy Research Society, stated that achieving the “30-60” dual carbon goals requires accelerating the energy revolution and promoting the integrated development of green fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol.

Liu Mingbo, president of the Yunnan Clean Fuel Association, emphasized that innovation is the core driving force behind building a clean energy system and called for collaboration to overcome technical bottlenecks. Cao Ning, the network development director at Geely Methanol Energy Company, shared practical experiences regarding Geely’s national deployment of methanol vehicles and proposed a “vehicle-station-network” collaborative development model.

The summit featured over ten specialized presentations and roundtable discussions covering hot topics such as policy interpretation, technological innovation, standard formulation, and compliance operations. Additionally, participants had hands-on experiences with industry applications through test rides of methanol vehicles and demonstrations of explosion-proof equipment.

During the summit, several significant partnerships were established. Companies like Shandong Dinghui Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Hunan Jinzhongxin Oil Co., Ltd. reached strategic agreements on “green methanol preparation and storage technology” and the promotion of “green methanol vehicles and refueling stations in the Two Lakes region,” injecting new momentum into the regional energy transition.
