2025 11th China International Electric Vehicle Charging Industry Conference Successfully Held

From May 13 to 15, the 2025 11th China International Electric Vehicle Charging Industry Conference was grandly held at the Ruili Hotel and Shanghai Automotive Exhibition Center, organized by the Shanghai Traffic Engineering Society, China Charging Pile Network, Charging and Swapping Hundred People’s Association, and the Light Storage Charging Industry Alliance.

This forum focused on the forward-looking and strategic theme of “Promoting Global High-Quality Development of the Charging and Swapping Industry”. It gathered authoritative experts, scholars from research institutions, and representatives from leading enterprises in the new energy transportation field across the country. The discussions revolved around key areas such as technological innovation, international standard collaboration, and the outlook for industry development. The event aimed to create a comprehensive service platform that integrates technology exchange, brand display, and conference discussions, accelerating the construction of a safe, efficient, and intelligently connected new energy transportation infrastructure system, thereby promoting high-quality development in the charging and swapping sector.

Officials from the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, China Electric Vehicle Hundred People’s Association, and other organizations delivered speeches. Professor Yu Zhuoping from Tongji University and other automotive industry experts attended the conference and shared insights. Professor Yu provided an in-depth analysis of the development history, current status, and trends of the new energy vehicle and charging-swapping industries, which resonated deeply with the attendees.

Over the past decade, China’s charging and swapping industry has experienced an extraordinary annual growth rate of 35%. As of the end of March 2025, the number of public charging piles in China exceeded 3.9 million, with battery swap stations covering more than 300 cities. By April 2025, the total number of charging facilities surpassed 12 million, with public charging piles accounting for over 40%. The rapid growth in market demand and the continuous release of policy benefits are reshaping the global charging and swapping industry landscape. The Chinese charging and swapping industry has officially entered a new phase of “Integrated Light Storage Charging, Inclusive Urban and Rural Networks, and Collaborative International Standards”, injecting robust momentum into the large-scale development of the new energy vehicle industry and aiding the acceleration of dual carbon strategic goals.

This conference brought together industry wisdom to outline the blueprint for global development in the charging and swapping industry. Through in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics such as the integration of vehicles, networks, and stations, breakthroughs in megawatt ultra-fast charging technology, and the establishment of a battery swap standard system, the participants reached three major consensus points: promoting the intelligent upgrade of facilities, deepening energy internet interactions, and expanding a diverse refueling ecosystem.

During the conference, Cao Hongbin, Vice President of the Light Storage Charging Industry Alliance and Deputy General Manager of the Automotive Innovation Platform, initiated the “High-Quality Development Initiative for the Megawatt Ultra-Fast Charging Industry” on behalf of the alliance, along with representatives from ten companies including Star Charging, Shenzhen Kehua, and Bull Group. This initiative aims to address the “efficiency anxiety” and “grid capacity contradictions” associated with the widespread adoption of large-scale electric vehicles through technological breakthroughs and mode innovations. By integrating high-power charging, smart grid interactions, vehicle-network interactions, and distributed energy storage technologies, the goal is to deeply couple transportation and energy networks, thus creating new infrastructure for a net-zero carbon society. This initiative seeks to establish a two-way channel for “Chinese Standards” and “Global Applications”, providing a replicable systemic solution for global green transformation and initiating a high-quality development paradigm for the new energy era.
