The “Integrated Energy Storage System” project of the First National Energy Storage Base has launched its annual operation. The announcement was made on May 28, 2025, by China New Energy Network, highlighting the project’s capability of generating 6.2 billion kWh of electricity. This system aims to achieve a green energy ratio of around 40%, supporting the country’s shift towards a green energy model.
The construction site is located in Jiangxi Province, with the project initiated by the Jiangxi Provincial Government. In recent years, the collaboration between local governments and energy enterprises has focused on developing a low-carbon economy, emphasizing the integration of renewable energy resources.
The “Integrated Energy Storage System” is designed to enhance the efficiency of energy management by utilizing advanced technologies and innovative methods. This will facilitate the rapid deployment of renewable energy sources while ensuring stability and sustainability in energy supply.
In terms of energy generation, the project includes a 115 MW energy storage facility, which is expected to produce approximately 2.2 billion kWh annually. The green electricity cost is set at approximately 0.2930 yuan/kWh, which is about 40% lower than traditional energy sources.
The overall goal is to provide a reliable and sustainable energy supply while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The project also aims to promote energy conservation and the use of green energy technologies, minimizing carbon emissions and enhancing energy efficiency.
Looking ahead, the Jiangxi Energy Storage Project plans to increase its green energy supply ratio to over 70%, with expectations of lowering the electricity cost to around 0.36 yuan/kWh by 2030. This initiative is part of China’s broader strategy to transition towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy landscape.
This project exemplifies advancements in energy technology and reflects the ongoing commitment to achieving a more sustainable energy future.
