China’s first large-scale lithium-ion battery energy storage power station has commenced its construction phase. This project is located in the Guangxi region of China and is expected to be fully operational by October 10, 2025.
As of October 10, 2025, the facility is set to enhance energy storage capabilities significantly. This project aligns with the government’s strategic plan to develop “high-efficiency lithium-ion battery energy storage technology” aimed at promoting green energy solutions.
On October 8, 2025, the Guangxi government announced the initiation of the construction of this lithium-ion battery storage power station, which is part of a broader strategy to improve the region’s energy infrastructure. The power station will be able to provide energy for approximately 2 million households annually, generating about 600 power supply instances each year.
The projected annual energy output is expected to reach 3000 megawatt-hours, which is equivalent to a reduction of approximately 1.35 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This facility aims to meet the increasing energy demands of the region while contributing to a sustainable energy future.
The construction of the plant involves collaboration with various technical experts and is supported by advanced energy management systems to optimize performance. The project also includes the installation of advanced battery technology to ensure efficient energy storage and release.
This initiative underscores China’s commitment to enhancing its renewable energy capabilities and reducing its carbon footprint, aligning with global trends toward sustainable energy sources.
The ongoing developments in the energy sector, particularly in battery storage technology, are crucial for China’s transition to a greener, more efficient energy landscape.
