China

China Energy Engineering Group recently announced that a consortium formed by its subsidiaries has successfully signed three major contracts for renewable energy projects in Saudi Arabia, with a total value of $27.45 billion (approximately ¥195.54 billion). This milestone marks a significant step for China Energy in the international renewable energy market.

The consortium consists of China Energy Engineering International Construction Group Co., Ltd., Guangdong Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd., and Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd.. The partners for this project are the Saudi International Power and Water Company, the Saudi Public Investment Fund, and the Saudi Aramco Power Company.

The contracts include three renewable energy projects focused on wind and solar power. Specifically, the projects are:

  • The 1GW wind project at the Saudi PIF Phase V Shakila, valued at $663 million, with a planned construction period of 26 months.
  • The 2GW wind project at the Saudi PIF Phase V Stella, valued at $1.251 billion, with a construction period of 30 months.
  • The 2GW solar project at the Saudi PIF Phase VI Forest, valued at $831 million, with a construction period of 26 months.

All three projects will adopt a general contracting model that encompasses design, procurement, construction, and commissioning processes. Upon completion, these projects are expected to significantly enhance the renewable energy supply capacity in Saudi Arabia.

Among the projects, the Stella wind project is notable for being the largest single order at $1.251 billion, while the Forest solar project holds the top position for solar projects with a capacity of 2GW. China Energy has stated that the implementation of these projects will strictly adhere to international standards to ensure quality and progress.
