CATL is optimistic about the accelerated electrification of heavy-duty trucks and has introduced a new generation of battery swapping solutions. The company plans to establish a nationwide battery swapping network for heavy-duty trucks by 2030, aiming to address the bottleneck of charging times for electric trucks.
On April 24, 2025, during the 21st Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, CATL showcased its advancements at its exhibition booth.
Currently, electric products account for a relatively low percentage of new heavy-duty truck sales, approximately 10% in 2024. However, CATL anticipates a rapid increase in electrification, projecting that this figure will rise to 50% within the next three years. This forecast was made by Zeng Yuqun, the chairman of CATL, at the launch event for the next generation of battery swapping ecosystems on May 18, 2025.
CATL aims to leverage its battery swapping solution to facilitate the industry’s transformation and seize market opportunities.
On the same day, CATL also announced the release of the “Standard Battery Swapping Block No. 75.” Interested parties can access investment information, including stock price trends and structural personnel changes, through the Caixin database.
