To position Malaysia as a leader in the new energy mobility sector, four pioneering companies have organized the “Asia EV Motion 2025” exhibition, focusing on the future development of sustainable and new energy transportation solutions. This three-day event commenced yesterday (April 15) and will conclude tomorrow (April 17), with the opening ceremony held at the Sunway Technology Sdn. Bhd. in the Senai Airport City Industrial Zone.
The four organizing companies include Sun Bus Tech, Mobilus Sdn. Bhd., CNIM Singapore, and CCIG. Through this exhibition, they are showcasing a variety of innovative transportation solutions, such as electric city buses, the smart tram system (ART), smart living pods, and electric vehicles, highlighting significant advancements in modern transportation technology. Guests will also have the opportunity to experience the innovative technologies of electric vehicles.
Additionally, artwork created by 20 Malaysian and 20 Singaporean children, depicting the smart tram system, was displayed. Their drawings reflect their perspectives of Johor Bahru and Woodlands, symbolizing the deep cultural ties and exchanges between Malaysia and Singapore, while also illustrating how transportation developments reshape cross-border communication and interactions for future generations.
Simon Teh, CEO of EV Mobility, stated that the four companies are committed to leading the transformation of sustainable mobility solutions. By integrating cutting-edge technology and industry expertise, they aim to accelerate Malaysia’s transition towards a cleaner and more efficient transportation ecosystem.
Cheng Yan Shuang, founder of MuzArt, mentioned that over a thousand children participated in the art project, with 40 artworks selected for display. The youngest participant was just six years old, while the oldest was thirteen.
Notable attendees included Li Ting Han, the Johor State Executive Councillor overseeing investment, trade, consumer affairs, and human resources; Penny Peng, CEO of Sun Bus Tech; Gu Yi Feng, Chairman of CCIG; Lai Wen Fei, Chairman of Mobilus; Lan Shan, Executive President of Singapore SENA; Mohamed Riduan, Director of the Johor office of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA); Wong Kwan Kai, the Consul-General of Singapore in Johor Bahru; and various industry leaders.

In May, the Johor state government plans to present the 2030 Green Development Policy to the Johor State Assembly for approval. This policy, approved during a meeting of the Johor Green Development Committee chaired by Dato’ On Hafiz, sets a target of increasing the number of electric vehicles in the state to 15,840 and establishing 1,245 charging stations by 2030.
Lin noted that many people are interested in purchasing electric vehicles but are concerned about where to charge them. Although some fast-charging stations exist, users may still face waits of one to two hours. The state government aims to ensure that each electric vehicle charging station meets specific requirements to guarantee coverage before 2030.
Furthermore, Lin mentioned that the four companies collaborating on the “Asia EV Motion 2025” exhibition represent both local and international interests. This partnership not only involves joint investment but also the sharing of advanced technologies, particularly the smart rail rapid transit system, which has shown promising results in Kuching, Sarawak. The Johor state government is actively working to implement an elevated smart tram system in Johor Bahru to alleviate urban traffic congestion.
