In March 2025, the production and sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) saw a rapid increase, with notable growth in both domestic sales and exports, according to the analysis by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
During this month, NEV production reached 1.277 million units, while sales totaled 1.237 million units, marking an impressive year-on-year growth of 47.9% and 40.1%, respectively.
From January to March 2025, the cumulative production and sales of NEVs amounted to 3.182 million units and 3.075 million units, reflecting increases of 50.4% and 47.1% year-on-year.
In March alone, domestic sales of NEVs reached 1.079 million units, representing a month-on-month increase of 41.9% and a year-on-year increase of 42.3%.
For the first quarter of 2025, domestic sales totaled 2.633 million units, which is a 47.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
Exports of NEVs in March were recorded at 158,000 units, showing a month-on-month growth of 20.1% and a year-on-year rise of 26.8%.
For the first three months of 2025, NEV exports reached 441,000 units, which translates to a year-on-year increase of 43.9%.
