The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) held a meeting on April 28 to promote the large-scale update of equipment among central enterprises. Zhang Yuzhuo, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of SASAC, emphasized the need for state-owned enterprises to implement the major directives from the central government. He urged these enterprises to enhance their political awareness and understand that pushing for large-scale equipment updates is a prerequisite for technological transformation and industrial upgrading. This initiative is also a significant measure to stimulate national economic growth and an important opportunity for companies to develop competitive advantages. It is crucial to strengthen the sense of responsibility, mission, and urgency regarding this task.
Zhang called for a focus on building world-class enterprises by accelerating the update of advanced equipment. This includes improving efficiency, enhancing advanced production capacity, and increasing self-controllable capabilities, all while aligning with global standards. The aim is to replace outdated equipment with a new batch of high-technology, high-efficiency, and highly reliable devices.
Furthermore, there is a push to accelerate digital transformation through extensive initiatives such as “intelligent upgrades,” application of smart manufacturing equipment, and construction of digital infrastructure. The integration of new technologies like artificial intelligence into the manufacturing process and across all factors is also a priority.
Green transformation efforts are being prioritized as well, with a focus on promoting green equipment and managing energy efficiency. Collaborations with platform companies will be fostered to create a positive cycle from product research and development to manufacturing and recycling.
Enhancing inherent safety is another critical area, with increased efforts towards the renovation of outdated facilities, application of safety technologies, and utilization of safety equipment to reduce potential risks from the source.
To strengthen effective supply, equipment manufacturing enterprises will be encouraged to ramp up research and development of new devices. Additionally, shipbuilding companies are being urged to increase their research and development of new energy-powered vessels, while related enterprises should expedite product optimization and upgrades.
Finally, SASAC stressed the importance of strong organizational leadership and the effective use of supportive policies to ensure a steady and orderly advancement of these initiatives. This strategic push for large-scale equipment updates aims to promote high-quality development within enterprises.
