On May 8, 2025, to accelerate the integration of the fast-charging electric grid with public transportation, the Electric Power Supply and New Energy initiative was launched in the city of Guizhou. This initiative aims to promote electric vehicle charging applications in energy, transportation, and urban planning sectors. It focuses on establishing a green energy chain for Guizhou, which is expected to facilitate the development of new energy vehicles and enhance collaboration within the electric charging sector.
The initiative was announced during a conference held in Guizhou, which included representatives from various government departments, enterprises, and industry associations. It aims to improve electric vehicle charging infrastructure and enhance operational efficiency in the electric supply chain. The event also served as a platform to discuss challenges and solutions in the electrification of public transport.
As of April, Guizhou province has reported the installation of 2,756 electric vehicle charging stations, including 466 in urban areas and 2,290 in rural zones. Additionally, the province has completed the construction of 37 charging stations, which include 29 fast-charging stations and 8 conventional charging stations. The provincial government has set a target to establish 500 charging stations by 2030, with plans to add 100 new stations in 2025.
Furthermore, the Guizhou government is working on enhancing the electric vehicle charging network, with an emphasis on integrating renewable energy sources. The initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions significantly, with projections estimating a reduction of over 30,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
Throughout the event, there was a strong emphasis on the importance of collaboration among industry stakeholders to promote electric vehicle adoption and the development of charging infrastructure. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to support the transition toward sustainable energy solutions in China.
The Guizhou government remains committed to promoting electric vehicles and improving charging services, as these efforts are crucial in addressing energy demands and reducing environmental impacts.
