2025 China (Shandong) Power Industry Innovation Development Conference Held in Jinan
The 2025 China (Shandong) Power Industry Innovation Development Conference took place in Jinan on April 28, 2025. The event focused on innovation within the power sector and aimed to accelerate the transition to smart energy. With the theme “Intelligent Gathering in Qilu, Green Movement for the Future,” the conference sought to implement an innovation-driven development strategy, showcase outstanding technological achievements, address challenges in new energy consumption technology, explore the application of artificial intelligence in the power industry, and promote Shandong’s transformation from a traditional energy province to a strong smart energy province.
This conference was organized by the Shandong Province Power Industry Association and the Shandong Province Power Science and Technology Association, with support from the Shandong Science and Technology Market, Shandong Qilu Energy Research Institute, Shandong Luban Workers’ Innovation and Efficiency Service Center, and Shandong Electric Power Consulting Company. Over 1,000 participants, including leaders from energy and technology management departments, experts and scholars, and executives from domestic companies in power generation, grid operation, comprehensive energy services, and digital energy support services, gathered to discuss the new blueprint for innovation and development in the power sector.
During the opening ceremony, key figures such as Wang Zhiwei, President of the Shandong Province Power Industry Association and Chairman of the State Grid Shandong Electric Power Company; Shi Yubo, Chairman of the China Energy Research Society; and representatives from the Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Department and the Shandong Provincial Energy Bureau delivered speeches. Various scholars and experts addressed topics such as deepening the innovation-driven development strategy, advancing green and low-carbon transformation, new energy technologies, and key photovoltaic generation technologies. Their insights aimed to guide Shandong’s power industry in aligning with national strategies and sparked thoughtful discussions among attendees.
Additionally, the Shandong Qilu Energy Research Institute was inaugurated during the conference. Under the guidance of the “dual carbon” development goals, the Shandong Province Power Industry Association funded the establishment of this institute. It aims to consolidate intellectual resources within the industry, conduct research on major issues in the energy and power sectors, provide intellectual support to management departments, and offer technological backing for strategic development in enterprises.
The Shandong Power Think Tank Alliance was also announced at the event. This alliance, based on the platform of the Shandong Province Power Industry Association and initiated by the association’s president and several vice presidents, aims to achieve “innovation, cooperation, win-win outcomes, and development.” Through resource integration, synergy of advantages, and information aggregation, the alliance will engage in research projects, policy recommendations, and results-sharing activities to strengthen decision-making support, platform development, and promotion of outcomes for high-quality development in Shandong’s power sector.
The conference also saw the release of group standards by the Shandong Province Power Industry Association. Since becoming a pilot unit for group standards recognized by the National Standards Committee in 2018, the association has actively engaged in standardization efforts, publishing a total of 41 group standards. This event included the on-site release of group standards developed since 2024, highlighting the association’s active role in advancing industry standardization.
Moreover, an exhibition area was set up to showcase the latest technologies, products, and solutions in the power industry, providing an excellent platform for business collaboration and exchange.
On the same day, the conference hosted three specialized workshops: a seminar on new energy consumption and innovative development, a discussion on the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the power industry and collaborative development between industry and academia, and a forum on leveraging artificial intelligence for the construction of new power systems. These sessions focused on cutting-edge technologies and trends in specific segments of the power industry, delivering valuable insights to participants.
