2025 China (Shandong) Power Industry Innovation Development Conference Held in Jinan

The 2025 China (Shandong) Power Industry Innovation Development Conference took place in Jinan on April 28, 2025. The theme of the conference, “Intelligent Integration for a Green Future“, focuses on driving innovation within the power industry and accelerating the transition to smart energy.

The event aimed to implement the strategy of innovation-driven development, showcase outstanding technological achievements, address challenges in renewable energy consumption technologies, explore the application of artificial intelligence in the power sector, and facilitate Shandong’s transformation from a traditional energy province to a stronghold of smart energy.

This conference was organized by the Shandong Provincial Power Industry Association and the Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Association, with support from the Shandong Technology Market, Shandong Qilu Energy Research Institute, Shandong Luban Workers’ Innovation and Efficiency Service Center, and Shandong Electric Power Consulting Co., Ltd.. Over 1,000 attendees, including leaders from energy and technology management departments, experts, scholars, and industry leaders from the power generation, grid, integrated energy services, and digital energy sectors, gathered to discuss new blueprints for innovation and development in the power industry.

During the opening ceremony, key figures such as Wang Zhiwei, President of the Shandong Provincial Power Industry Association and Chairman of the State Grid Shandong Electric Power Company, as well as Shi Yubo, Chairman of the China Energy Research Society, delivered speeches. Several scholars and experts addressed topics such as deepening innovation-driven development strategies, promoting green and low-carbon transitions, and discussing key technologies in photovoltaic power generation, providing insights that resonated with attendees and highlighted the direction for integrating Shandong’s power industry into national strategies.

At the conference, the Shandong Qilu Energy Research Institute was officially inaugurated. Funded by the Shandong Provincial Power Industry Association under the guidance of the “dual carbon” development goals, the institute aims to consolidate intellectual resources in the industry, conduct research on significant issues in the energy and power sectors, offer intellectual support to management departments, and provide technical assurance for corporate strategic development.

The Shandong Power Think Tank Alliance was also announced during the event. This alliance, initiated by the association’s president and several vice presidents, aims to foster innovation, cooperation, and development through resource integration, synergy of advantages, and information aggregation. It will engage in research projects, policy recommendations, and result exchanges to strengthen decision-making support, platform development, and the promotion of outcomes, thereby enhancing the intellectual support for high-quality development in Shandong’s power industry.

Additionally, the conference featured the release of group standards by the Shandong Provincial Power Industry Association. Since becoming a second-batch pilot unit for group standards recognized by the National Standardization Administration in 2018, the association has actively pursued standardization efforts, issuing a total of 41 group standards. This event highlighted the association’s proactive role in advancing the standardization process in the industry.

A dedicated exhibition area was set up to showcase the latest technologies, products, and solutions in the power sector, providing an excellent platform for business exchanges and collaborations.

On the same day, three specialized seminars were held, focusing on discussions about renewable energy consumption and innovative development, the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the power industry, and the empowerment of new power system construction through artificial intelligence. These sessions aimed to present cutting-edge technologies and development trends in specific areas of the power industry, offering valuable insights to attendees.
