The 2025 Beijing New Materials Conference and the 7th Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Graphene Conference are set to take place from May 18 to 20, 2025, in Fangshan District, Beijing. This event aims to promote the high-quality development of the new materials industry in Beijing and to support the integration of the city’s advantageous industries with regional industrial chains.
Approximately 500 participants are expected to attend, including representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, relevant government departments from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, as well as prominent scholars and industry experts such as Academicians Gan Yong and Xie Jianxin. The conference is organized by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, the Beijing Development and Reform Commission, the Beijing Science and Technology Commission, the ZGC Administrative Committee, the Beijing Investment Promotion Center, and the Fangshan District People’s Government, with assistance from the Yanshan Office and the Beijing Advanced Materials Industry Promotion Association.
This year’s conference is themed “New Materials – New ‘X’ Hopes – New Future,” focusing on gathering innovative resources in Beijing’s new materials sector and creating a platform for industrial chain collaboration. The goal is to drive breakthrough developments in the new materials industry to better support the healthy growth of downstream sectors such as new energy vehicles, high-end equipment, electronic information, and biomedical applications.
Building on the successes of previous graphene conferences, this event has been upgraded to encompass a broader range of new materials, transitioning from a single-material focus to a multidimensional ecosystem of collaborative development. This approach aims to enhance the high-quality development of Beijing’s new materials industry with a stronger collective impact.
Innovative Leadership: Creating a “1+4+N” Multidimensional Collaborative Platform
The conference will feature a “1+4+N” activity framework, including one opening ceremony, four sub-forums (focused on advanced materials, the new energy vehicle supply chain, electronic information materials and devices, and a Tianjin sub-forum), as well as a series of activities like entrepreneur meet-ups and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei New Materials Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. These forums will delve into national strategies for new materials, addressing cutting-edge fields such as electronic information materials, new materials for new energy vehicles, humanoid robots, and materials for the low-altitude economy, aligning closely with the demands of Beijing’s advantageous industries.
A Tianjin sub-forum will also be established to form a cross-regional, multi-layered forum matrix, further strengthening the collaboration between the three regions and providing robust support for the cluster development of the new materials industry in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei.
Open and Win-Win: Setting the Direction for Innovation in New Materials
The conference will host a three-day exhibition showcasing the latest research outcomes and innovations in new materials and technologies from over 40 participating entities, including major state-owned enterprises in materials like China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group, China National Building Material Group, and China Minmetals Corporation, along with universities such as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Beijing University of Chemical Technology. This exhibition will provide a platform for technological innovation and collaborative application scenarios, further promoting the integration of the upstream and downstream of the industry chain and injecting new momentum into the innovation ecosystem.
Empowering Industries: Accelerating the Transformation of Scientific Achievements into Real-World Applications
In alignment with the collaborative development initiatives of the “six chains and five clusters” in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the conference will leverage Beijing’s technological innovation advantages and the industrial capacity of Tianjin and Hebei to promote the large-scale application of new materials in sectors such as new energy vehicles, semiconductors, and high-end equipment. The event will see significant projects and joint laboratories signing agreements, capitalizing on the advantages of the Liuxiang University Town Technology Park to expedite the transformation of scientific achievements and real-world applications, thereby strengthening the industrial chain.
Collaborative Progress: Deepening Regional Integration Development
During the conference, the industrial and information departments from Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei will jointly launch the “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Advanced Materials Integrated Kickoff Ceremony,” enhancing a four-tier collaborative mechanism involving national, provincial, municipal, and local park levels. This aims to form a unified effort in industrial planning, technological breakthroughs, and practical applications. The conference will also provide opportunities for entrepreneurs to engage in discussions, showcase the business environment of Beijing and Fangshan District, and facilitate investment attraction, promoting the efficient flow of innovative factors within the region and enhancing the integration of the industrial, supply, and innovation chains.
Looking ahead, Beijing will concentrate on major projects in the new materials sector, planning key industrial collaborations, and continuously optimizing the industrial collaboration ecosystem in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The focus will be on new momentum, creating a new future, and collaboratively fostering new productive forces to build a leading hub for new materials innovation in Beijing, thus writing a new chapter in the collaborative development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
