China’s New Energy Technology Sector in 2023: An Overview of the U.S. Response
Published on: January 18, 2026, 09:08 AM
As of this year, individuals from the U.S., Europe, and beyond have acknowledged that the new energy technology sector in China is no longer an emerging trend. Significant advancements in areas such as electric vehicles and solar energy technologies have already been made.
This article summarizes insights from Michael Lydick, who reported on the CES exhibition. He noted that this year, however, China did not showcase many new products in the realm of electronic devices but rather highlighted the contrast between its energy and solar technologies compared to those in the U.S.
Lydick emphasized that this discrepancy reflects personal observations, as he himself hails from the U.S. He mentioned that he has firsthand experience with the challenges posed by severe weather conditions, such as winter storms and strong winds, which often disrupt power systems. This necessitates a reliable supply of electricity for electronic devices.
Previously, Lydick developed a set of power generation and storage systems over the past two years, which he upgraded to the EcoFlow Delta 2 Max. This portable power system features a 2400W inverter and a 2048Wh battery, capable of delivering a maximum output of 1000W for solar DC and 1800W for AC.
Additionally, he introduced a solar-powered vehicle charging station, which can support 65W of power. During unsuitable weather conditions, this station can provide electricity to the battery storage system at the front. He also mentioned a system capable of charging electric vehicles, which can deliver power to a 35-watt load. Moreover, he has been considering options for charging electric vehicles during off-peak hours to enhance the efficiency of energy usage.
At the CES exhibition, products related to batteries and solar energy were highlighted. The report indicated that many companies, including those from China, are increasingly focused on energy technology advancements, while maintaining a competitive edge in the market.
In light of these developments, it is evident that the U.S. is working to address its energy strategy and is continuously evolving its approach to new energy technologies. The global energy landscape is shifting, and both China and the U.S. are at the forefront of this transformation.
In conclusion, the focus on renewable energy and the transition to new energy technologies is gaining momentum, and the differences in strategies between China and the U.S. are becoming increasingly pronounced. This evolution is critical for both countries as they navigate the complex challenges of energy supply and sustainability.
